Connect Mini to Mini

Create a fixed, dual‑screen checkout: one merchant‑facing Clover Mini and one customer‑facing Clover Mini linked by Clover Mini tether cable, for faster checkout speeds and optimized workflows.

Before you start

  • Placement: Put the merchant Mini within easy reach of staff. Place the customer Mini where guests can comfortably review, tip, and sign.

  • Cable required: 1 × USB‑A ↔ USB‑B cable (A‑to‑B).

  • App required: USB Pay Display must be installed on both Minis.

  • Power & network: Both devices powered on and connected to your Clover network.

Step 1 — Physically connect the Minis

  1. On the merchant Mini, plug the USB‑A end into any USB port on the Mini hub.

  2. On the customer Mini, plug the USB‑B end into the left‑side second USB‑B port on the Mini hub.

  3. Secure cable routing so guests can’t snag or disconnect it.

Tip: This tethered setup replaces the need for swivel stands.

Step 2 — Install USB Pay Display App on both devices

If prompted after you connect the cable, follow the on‑screen steps to install. If not prompted:

  1. Sign in at dashboard.clover.com.

  2. Go to More Tools (or More ▸ App Market).

  3. Search USB Pay Display, add it to your account, then install on both Minis.

  4. On the customer Mini, open USB Pay Display; your business name will appear on the screen.

If you see an error:

  • Reseat the USB‑A/B cable on both hubs.

  • Confirm USB Pay Display is installed on both devices.

  • Reboot each Mini (power menu ▸ Reboot), then try again.

  • Update Clover OS if an update is pending.

Using customer‑facing mode

  • To enter customer‑facing mode on the guest Mini: open USB Pay Display.

  • During payments, the flow continues automatically (e.g., Tips screen, then receipt).

  • The screen shows “Welcome to [Your Business Name]” when idle.

Switch back to merchant‑facing

  1. On the customer Mini, touch all four corners of the screen at once.

  2. Log in; the device now operates as a merchant Mini.

Example: food truck

  • Merchant Clover Mini inside the food truck with customer Clover Mini sitting on the outside countertop for quick and easy payment, with tap to pay, Apple Pay, and more.

Troubleshooting quick checks

  • Cable is USB‑A ↔ USB‑B (not C‑to‑C).

  • USB ends are in the correct hub ports (A on merchant hub, B on guest hub).

  • USB Pay Display installed and launched on the guest Mini.

  • Both devices are powered, networked, and on the latest Clover OS.
